Fried...

Thu Dec 4, 2008, 4:31 PM
I have no idea why I'm posting now, I am tired and should be resting but I guess I just needed to jot some thoughts down. Today I am burnt from an intense week of non-stop work for which I am extremely appreciative. Quite a difference from a 2 months ago when I started panicking because work was slow and had convinced myself I needed a staff job in an art studio. The economy is rough and work was scarce, but then again looking back I wasn't really looking for work. I was arrogantly relying on people seeking ME out. I got spoiled and lazy, forgetting that one part of the freelancer's life is getting new clients, getting new work, not relying on any one client.

So I found a job, two days a week in an art studio for a major advertising agency. The people were great, but I found myself having to turn down freelance out of professional loyalty to my commitment to the agency. I was getting frustrated and unhappy, to the point where I hated getting up on Monday. I decided it wasn't worth it and I'd rather hustle a bit more than limit the amount of freelance I could do.

It was the best decision I could have made! Work picked up, I'm not stressed about getting up at 6AM on Mondays and my schedule is my own again. And if things get slow, I can hustle and pick up some new clients, or learn some new skills. Going back to an office environment was definitely an eye-opener. Sometimes you need to fall backwards to move forward.

Hi all. Sorry for the absence, life's been pretty crazy. I miss being involved on the art boards and missed the site. Hope all is well with everyone, will have new work up soon.

Cheers!

welcome back brother, you might want to fix the link for your website while yer at it... still won't work for Firefox.
:icongiantsquidstudio:
Can't really "fix' the link for Firefox, it is what it is. I created it on a Mac with iWeb and don't know of any way to make it Firefox friendly. My next app to learn is Freeway, a WYSIWIG web page designer. That should work wonders for me (I hope).

LOL! I just realized your signature is a quote from Captain America, no? Great line!

Hey Drawgasm. Thanks for the post! I'm back and anxious to be part of the art community again. Unfortunately I got distracted by RL crap and am trying to find a balance between doing what I HAVE to and what I WANT to.

Welcome back and good luck! :D
